This past week was the kickoff to Bridal Fashion week in NYC. I’ve gone to a few shows over the years (volunteering, don’t get too excited) and this year was a special year.
Not only was I able to attend these viewings as a guest and enjoy the beauty up close, but there was something extraordinary in the air about being there and being engaged.
Even though I have my dress already, it’s so wonderful to see all the new collections and know what’s trending for the upcoming seasons. Not to mention, it never hurts to look at more dresses ;).
Last week, I started by attending a Catherine Deane cocktail and viewing event on the West Side. Of course all her new dresses were stunning and so quaint. A little wine and cupcakes in attendance never hurt either.
Friday night I attended the JLM Fall 2017 featuring Lazaro, Tara Keely, Jim HJELM by Hayley Paige, Blush by Hayley Paige and the Hayley Paige collections. This was such an amazing show with great atmosphere and excited people eagerly awaiting the newest lines. I sat in the front row trying to keep my cool like I’d done this a hundred times (totally didn’t look like that at all).
The first two designers were Lazaro and Tara Keely’s new lines (hint: It was filled with sparkles, lace and fabulousness).
Next came various Hayley Paige collections. While some of her pieces were sparkly, she added a lot of feather accents and accessories to the dresses–which spices up the traditional white dress (and puts the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino to shame). The back of each dress is so delicate and whimsical it ties in femininity with a modern and elegant twist.
After the show we got to walk around and take some *glam* shots of our experience. What a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to come back next year!

It may be frigid in New York, but for those of you trading in the cold for some sun, I have the perfect outfit for you: handmade crochet swimsuits.
I was lucky enough to get one of these beautiful bathing suits made by SeaSide Motifs. Their bathing suits are different than any other I have ever owned. They are made in the U.S. and all their products are made out of cotton and yarn.
Styles are available in solid colors (like mine above) or additional colors and styles. Currently, the bathing suits are selling online only and will soon be selling in local stores.
SeaSide Motifs offers elegant products with openwork finishing. The bathing suit bottoms are designed to fully cover your behind (so you won’t be showing more than intended!)
A new line of bathing suits will be coming out soon and will be made of stretchy cotton material.
For those chilly spring nights–Free People has got you covered.

Christmas is only days away–and the pressure to look and dress nice is at a peak.
If you are coming home from college you want to dress to impress your family & friends that you haven’t seen since the summer.
If you’re going to a boyfriend/significant other’s house you want to look your best in front of their family.
No matter where you are going or who you are spending Christmas with, the holidays is always a great time to dress up and have some fun. With that being said, there are the basic Christmas colors that lots of people will be incorporating into their outfits (greens and reds obviously). You can always go with that or you can spice things up.
Why not try out a maroon color, some velvet fabric or some fun gold tights? The holiday season is meant to celebrate and enjoy yourself!
If you’re still stuck on what to wear, maybe this list will help you.
1. The little green dress: Much like the LBD, this green dress from luulla is extremely classy! It’s the perfect dress if you’re not one to wear bold things. You can add a (fake) diamond necklace or some pearl earrings and you are ready to go to that holiday party!
2. The snow princess dress: If you live somewhere where you don’t have a white Christmas, this dress can make that happen. White is a beautiful holiday color that is often overlooked. Get this girly dress from Missguided for less than $50.00!
3. The holiday romper:Who says you can’t wear a romper for the holidays? Sure, there are the jumpers, but if you are brave enough, why not throw some black stockings underneath! This lace red romper is perfect for a night out or a fun holiday party.
4. The edgy outfit: Most people tend to indulge in sweets and drinks around the holidays (and why wouldn’t you?). With that being said, it can be easy to feel a little self conscious about your looks. If you are brave enough to bare anything at a party, this adorable two-piece outfit from Missguided is affordable and cute!
5. The comfort dress: If you are one of those people who have packed on a few pounds from all those (delicious) holiday parties, this black dress from Nasty Gal is perfect for you! It is festive, classy and loose so you can feel comfortable.
6. The shiny dress: You are bound to have all eyes on you with a metallic dress on. Take a jump out of your comfort zone and shine at your next holiday gathering. Get the look at Topshop.
7. The mini dress: You can wear this with tights or without (if you are going somewhere warmer for Christmas) and either will look great! This dress also comes with a red skirt (from Chic wish). You can pair this with a fun statement necklace with both colors!
8. The maxi dress: This is a great dress if you are going to a holiday event that is more upscale. It also comes in different colors and is less than $60.00 from Chic wish.

Getting Cozy For The Cold
The ultimate guide to getting that perfect winter coat this season.
The temperature is dropping as we know it and the thick coats are coming out.
This is something I dread about the winter; having to deal with bulky clothing to stay warm. That doesn’t have to be the case. You can look fabulous and not look (and feel) like a snowball.
Below are some great coats that are fashionable and will keep you warm every day (all for under $150.00).
This coat is great because it looks like a professional coat and you can also wear it for a night out! Get the look at Topshop.
This is more of an every day and casual coat from Zara.
Love the fun and sexy look? This H&M jacket is a great finish for the holidays.
Modcloth has got you covered with this cute and warm jacket!

Last-Minute Halloween Costumes
Transforming everyday-wear into a glamorous DIY costume
I’m sure you’re aware that Halloween is tomorrow.
It’s such a fun holiday because it’s one of the very few occasions that gives people an excuse to dress up in something completely ridiculous.
With that being said, picking the right costume comes with a lot of thought and can be extremely overwhelming.
Do you buy a new costume? Do you make your own? What are your friends going to be?
This can be tough when you have multiple Halloween parties to go to. You can’t be caught in the same costume of course.
Here is where my advice comes in. Go in your closet and see if you can work with any of your outfits. It’s time to think outside the box. Besides, spending $70.00 on a slutty costume that you’re only going to wear once suddenly seems crazy.
I dug up some items in my closet and came up with these fun and classic costume ideas:
I imagine that Beyonce will be a popular costume for the year. I actually didn’t have these items in my closet before so I’m cheating a little bit. However, if you want to go as Beyonce it is simple: Anything with leather, checker print and gold.
Being Ariel is someone I’ve always wanted to dress up as. These particular colors can be a little tricky, but any shades of green and purple will work! You can also get red hair spray to get into full gear. Also, anything with shells is a plus.
The Kardashians are notorious for their curvy figures (ehm, Kim). They are also usually spotted wearing pencil skirts and crop tops or blouses with lace. This is an easy one.
It helps if you have blonde hair, but Barbies have all different hair colors these days. If you wear hot pink and looked dolled up it will be easy to point out what your costume is. You can even print out the Barbie logo and put it somewhere on your outfit.
Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast At Tiffany’s
This is an easy one too. I’m sure every girl has a little black dress in their closet. And black sunglasses. And black pumps. Get some pearls and black gloves and you’re good to go.
A brown dress or a brown t-shirt is good for this costume. If you have an old brown tee you can cut up the bottom and put some feathers and beads on it. You ca also wear a feather headband. Very simple!
Being a flapper for Halloween is pretty common. Any clothing that you have with layers is great for this. For accessories, look for a pearl necklace and a vintage-looking headband.
Gold is key for this costume and having a fun headpiece with gold accessories will complete it.
Anything black and tight is great to be a cat or catwoman. Grab or make some cat ears and your outfit is complete.

Black & White
Black and white are classic. If you think about it, some of the most classic films and photos are in black and white. Though colors are just as beautiful, there’s something about black and white.
Black is worn when you feel sexy, when you need a go-to outfit and when you mourn.
Even though you’re not ‘supposed’ to wear white after labor day you can get away with it all year long (does anyone even follow that rule anymore?).
For the fall season, here are fun and fashionable ways to rock white and black:
This casual yet chic sweater is perfect for a lazy day around your place or a lunch date with friends. Get the look at Urban Outfitters.
This white blazer from TopShop is perfect for a day in the office or a night out with some skinny jeans. Did I mention it’s on sale too?
A fun pattern, comfy and has leather? Yes please! Get this fun look at Tobi. You can pair it with stockings and boots for the fall.
Ok, so this isn’t completely white, but this neon blazer is flirty and welcoming. It doesn’t have to be springtime to rock this look.
A little black dress is always perfect for the fall–especially a loose and cozy one. This can be a simple look for the day with a scarf and boots and dress it up for the night with a statement necklace and some fun heels.
You don’t have to be into horseback riding to wear these pants. These leggings would look great with an oversized sweater and some combat boots–aka the perfect fall day outfit! Get the look at TopShop for under 30.00.

It’s My Birthday & I’ll Wear What I Want to
In less than two weeks I will be turning 22 (cue the Taylor Swift song). I love celebrating my birthday however I expect to ignore my age as I get older. My birthday also means that fall is here (squeals). Though choosing something to do for my birthday may seem like the hard part, the real challenge is choosing what I will wear.
It is my birthday after all and I like to choose something fun and (maybe) flashy. The picture above is the top that I bought the other day. It is what i will be wearing for my birthday accompanied with a black pencil skirt. It took a few weekends of online browsing and a trip to the mall to find this beauty.
For those of you who like to celebrate your birthday and wear fun outfits, there’s many options. If you have a fall birthday like myself, this also means that the weather is getting cooler so your options of wearing miniskirts and strapless dresses become slim. Here are some outfits that I found that are very celebratory and fun!
Okay so it may be a little short, but that’s what jackets are for…right? This dress is simple yet sexy with the lace in the middle. Did I mention it’s under $35.00? Get the look from Nasty Gal.
Another white dress, yet festive with the shimmery Victorian pattern on the sides. Its the perfect dress for a birthday dinner and a club/bar dress afterwards. You can get this dress at Tobi for only $25.00. If you sign up on their website you get 50% off on your first purchase.
You can roam around the city in this dress without getting too cold. It’s simple yet super sexy with showing just enough in all the right places. You can spice this dress up with a fun statement necklace or some colorful earrings. Get the look at Tobi.
This dress is amazing. Its pinkish, shiny and fabulous without being too much. Get the look at Nasty Gal for under $50.00.
Who says you can’t wear a romper on your birthday. Not to mention this amazing lace romper from Sheinside. You can get it in other colors for only $29.00.
Release your inner Kardashian with this fun lace romper. It’s super sexy for a night out in town. Get the look at Nasty Gal.
(P)leather and gold are the perfect combination for a birthday suit. You can find this adorable look at Tobi.
This lace skirt from Chic Wish would go perfectly with a crop top or a fun blouse. If you’re not too into sequins and sparkles for your birthday then this is just the right outfit for you.

Look Like a Winner for Less
As you probably know, the Emmys were on Monday night. It’s always fun to watch your favorite shows win multiple awards (i.e. ‘Breaking Bad’–the best show in the world), but it can certainly become daunting watching a three-hour award show. One of my favorite parts is the red carpet where, of course, you can see everyone’s outfits.
This year it seemed as though the theme was red. Many stars showed up in scarlet red and some pulled it off better than others. Since these dresses are insanely expensive, i’ve pulled together my top five looks of the night and found dresses that look similar but for less.
Even pregnant, Hayden killed it on the red carpet. You would think that being pregnant and wearing a shiny dress could be too much, but she really pulled it off. In fact, she was my favorite look of the night.
Since Summer is quickly coming to an end (soft sobs), it’s time to come to the realization that Fall is right around the corner. With the weather about to change, it’s good to change up your wardrobe too.
Blazers are great for the fall. The weather is a little cooler yet you can still get away with walking around in a t-shirt. You don’t have to be working a full-time job to wear blazers since there are so many different styles.
There are so many different types, so here’s a list that will make you decisions easier:
A black and white stripe blazer is the perfect combination of elegant and fun.
An elephant blazer is definitely unique, but it would make a great statement piece going out for the night.
It doesn’t need to be spring to rock the floral look.
This ivoryblazer is the perfect go-to for any occasion.
Get this classy look at vogue (the website not the expensive fashion magazine).

The Glitter Plan: The Making of JuicyCouture
Juicy Couture started in a far away land (Pacoima,CA) by two amazing women that went by G & P. I recently finished The Glitter Plan, a book written by the founders of Juicy. I am no businesswoman or fashion designer but this book was extremely inspiring to me. I learned that you can put your mind to everything if you really work for it (also having connections with celebrities kind of helps too). Since the stores are closing for “rebranding” purposes, I would like to dedicate this post the the glamorous world of Juicy Couture.
Juicy originally started with graphic tees, which as we know are very popular to this day. Here are some tees that are timeless and fabulous:
Get this glamorous White tee (in more than one color!)
Or this floral tee (also available in more than one color).
If you’re into wearing oversized old t-shirts (which who isn’t) and want to dress up your night wear then you should try this comfy nightgown.
As always, made in the glamorous USA.

Crop Tops: The Yays and Nays
Crop tops have taken over the year 2014. It seems though, that they are getting shorter and shorter. I know they are called crop tops for a reason, but that’s only because they are shorter than regular blouses–but not that much shorter. I’ve seen girls walk around in what they consider “crop tops” but lets be honest, they’re basically bras at that point.
Let me just say (and I don’t think i’m just speaking for myself), it doesn’t look cute. Maybe for a beach day but not to walk around the mall or city. While I do have a few crop tops of my own, I am careful as to how I wear them. Because I am not a size zero (I gave up dreaming a while ago), I am cautious of what to show and how much to show with a crop top. Especially when you’re going out, you don’t want to be worrying about what might be falling out at any point. There are a lot of cute ways that you can wear crop tops without it being too much. Plus, it’s the summer so now’s the time to rock it!
The yays of crop tops:
Pair up a cute crop top from Free People with some pattern shorts to make it fun and unique.
Puns make great crop tops. Get this from Macys for only $9.99.
A white, lace crop top from Nasty Gal can match with any skirt (mini or maxi), printed shorts and pants.
This classy crop top from Nasty Gal. You can make it a day-time look and turn it into an evening look with just adding a few accessories.
I would usually say no to a print like this, but something about the pineapples with the pink is just happiness. This is a total necessity for a tropical vacation–all you’re missing is your very own fruity drink and a fan boy. Get this top from Romwe.
The nays of crop tops. Since these tops are from actual websites, I will not list where they are from. I am just stating these styled crop tops to generalize the types that are not fitting for most girls.
Extra-short crop tops and jean shorts (or any shorts for that matter) that are high waisted generally aren’t a good or flattering combination. Let’s face it, they look good for a candid photo to upload on Instagram but all that walking afterwards leaves you with an extreme wedgie and thighs rubbing.
This S&M looking top. It’s cute, but only if you were to show up on the red carpet for the premier of Fifty Shades of Grey. Other than that, Mr. Grey will not see you.
This is a combination os something that Miley Cyrus sneezed on and something that you took off one of your childhood dolls to try to squeeze into. Please never wear.
This very confusing crop top with a moon and a wolf on it. People make clothes like this?
Anything with the word “TWERK” on it. The end.

Affordable vs. Pricey
This is a fun game. You are given two of the same thing but here’s the catch: one’s much more affordable than the other. Sometimes, you may be surprised at how similar the quality of the clothes look.
If you’re on a tight budget and don’t have the luxury of spending a lot of money for an upcoming occasion, this is a great way for you and your wallet to feel satisfied (and not so guilty).
Let’s take a look at some every day outfits that you can wear and snag the great prices!
1. Little black dress: Every girl can use a little black dress. You can wear it on a night out, to a concert, to a birthday party, brunch, lunch, work and even for a lazy day. As you can get the point, LBD are a MUST have!
This dress is from the Lauren Conrad website. This dress however is $355.00.
This is a very similar LBD from Nasty Gal and is only $38.00.
2. Stripe dress: This type of dress is great to have in the summer. They are comfortable and you can dress them up with some accessories. You’ll be ready to o whether you’re at home watching TV or on your way out for a drink.
This classic black romper can be found at Forever21 for just $24.00.
5. Bright jacket: Even though it’s summer time and you generally don’t need a jacket, having a blazer is always good to have. This can be extremely useful if you have to go to work often and you’re expected to dress professional (as most jobs). This yellow blazer is fun and bright for the summer.
This blazer can be found on Roswe for only $32.00.

Sparkle & Shine
Sequins and glitter are fun, flirty and fabulous–not to mention sparkly. Sparkles are timeless and girls can never get tired of them (Thus the desire of that perfect diamond on your ring finger some day?). With this being said though, there are definitely some types of clothing that can be loud and tacky. Here are some tips on which occasions are perfect to get your sparkles on:
1. A night out
Obviously, a night out in the city or town calls for a flirty and fun look. If you live in a big city, that’s all the more reason to have fun with your wardrobe. Chances are, your outfit will not be the craziest of the night. There are a few ways you can tackle what to wear for a night out.
A glitter blouse with some leather or dark jeans is a perfect go-to if you’re not sure what you want to wear. You have edgy, fun and sexy all in one! Get the very affordable blouse at Jean Jail.
These blush-colored shorts are gorgeous and completely girly. They look expensive, but you can get them for only 36.00! Throw on some nude pumps and a lace blouse or crop top and you are good to go. Get the look at Chic Wish.
2. New Year’s Eve Party/Holiday Party
Holiday parties are the perfect opportunity to include sequins or some glitter. While some may dress conservative for the holidays, you can stand out by looking like a shining star. Get this beautiful dress for only 31.00 at The Tres Chic.
Gold pants are always the answer. You can go to happy hour now and be the most stylish one there. Get the look at Romwe.
Professional by day, flirty by night. Blazers with sequin trim is the perfect answer for professionals who want to go out for a drink after work without looking boring and uptight. This exact item is the solution for both worlds. Get it now at Lu Lu’s.
4. Hanging Out
Whether you’re at your house or lounging at a friend’s, you can still have some style. Being stylish and comfy sometimes don’t always work well together. Get this cozy-looking sweater with Mickie Mouse and Chanel at Romwe.
Do you have some solid t shirts that you don’t know what to do with? With an old tee and some sequins yarn you can make your own words on the t shirt now. It’s a cheap way switch up your closet. Did I also mention it’s a DIY? Check it out.

I try to incorporate lace into my outfit as much as I can. I’m obsessed with lace. To me, it’s so feminine and classy. Summer is a great season for lace because you can wear lots of whites and off whites for the sunny days. Whether you are wearing lace shorts, blouse, dress or cardigan, you can dress a lacy outfit up and look casual. If you like lace but aren’t sure how to incorporate it into an everyday outfit, here are some inspirations and tips. The perfect summer dress. Even if blue isn’t your color, anyone can look great in this dress. It has a country look to it but is balanced with buttons and girly lace. Buy the look at Chic Wish. Lacy can also be sexy for a night out. Black lace will give you a sophisticated but going out look. Best of both worlds! Check out the full dress at Nasty Gal. Lace blouses are one of those article of clothing that you can never have enough of. You can pair them with a high-waisted skirt, jean shorts or skinny jeans. Whether you’re going out to lunch, going shopping (for more lace shirts), at a party or even at home, you can always look stylish and chic. Get this blouse at Nasty Gal. Get this comfy and casual tank at Free People (it’s on sale!) Rompers are in (whether you like it or not) and they all don’t have to have tacky and loud prints (mhmm Forever21). Get a classy look and be comfortable for a very affordable price at Rosewe.

The Jean Comeback
Jeans have been a huge fashion fad since Levi’s in the late 1800s. The pant jean eventually evolved into shorts, dresses, overalls (remember those?), skirts, jackets and have even transformed into accessories. It seems like jeans vanished for a little, while ‘jeggings’ made their way into the fashion world.
Lately however, everywhere I look it seems as though everything has transformed back into jean material. It’s like a permanent throwback. If you have always been a fan of jean material then this is great news for you!
Let’s take a look at some styles that are ‘in.’
THE ROMPER— Rompers themselves are inspired by a late fashion. They have been reborn and turned into many styles, shapes and sizes. Dressy, casual, comfy, hobo and even business rompers have been made. This jean romper can be both casual and dressy. It’s simple, which makes it perfect to dress it up or down with accessories. Buy the look at Urban Outfitters.
THE SHIRT— Jean shirts are back in! Whether you are wearing a dark jean or a washed-out jean shirt (like in the photo to the left), you can make your outfit really playful. Pair it with some color pants (red, green or even black). You can make your outfit edgy with some black pants or make your outfit pop with bright jeans and prep it up by tucking in your shirt and adding a belt. Since it’s summer time, you can add a jean shirt with a summer dress or even a skirt without looking like a country girl. Urban Outfitters has the look now.
THE DRESS— Who says jean dresses can’t be cute too? These adorable dresses from ModCloth say it all. The washed-out look can make it fun to accessorize and play around with colors. Greens, yellows, whites and even blues can be paired with this fun dress.
THE VEST— Jean vests are thought to be out of style but the thing is that they are still very much in style. Much like jean jackets, vests go well with maxi dress or skirts. It gives off an edgy and flirty feel. Check out Etsy for more looks.
You wear them in your hair to hold up pigtails when you’re little, you learned to tie your shoe laces in bows and now bows are on lots of blouses and dresses that you might wear.
If you normally wouldn’t wear bows, try stepping out of your (style) comfort zone…it may surprise you. Being a girly girl, it’s extremely easy for me to say that bows can make an outfit look dainty while also being fun. It’s time to change up your summer look!
This bow skirt is great because it has a dress-up feeling but the coral bow makes it playful. You can pair it up with a black blouse. If you love the skirt, check it out at Us Trendy.
No need to tie a bow when you have them as a print! You can wear these shorts for a casual day-time look or dress them up with some heels to go out at night. Buy the look on Oasis.
This is a great dress to have because you can get a lot of use out of it. You can wear it to parties, picnics and even out to dinner with some green, blue or red heels. If you like to wear lipstick, you can rock some red lips and get a vintage look. Get the look at Asos.
This blouse is a must have in your closet because it’s classic. You can look chic and fabulous with a pair of colored skinny jeans and heels or flats. ModCloth has the look.
I’m no fashion designer. I know how to sew a tear here and there and get a loose button back on…but that’s as far as I go. A few years ago, my mom bought me a mannequin for Christmas. It was beautiful but also so bear. For the longest time I would cloth it with my own clothes, but it never looked complete. Around Christmas time, Anthropologie (aka my second home) sells cute wrapping paper and other decorations for the season. The wrapping paper is so beautiful, not to mention expensive. In other words, who would spend twelve dollars on a few sheets of wrapping paper only to be torn apart? I couldn’t do that. Instead, I had another idea in mind: constructing a dress made out of wrapping paper. Instead of sewing, I would use some scissors and a hot glue gun. Perfect. So i bought my twelve dollar wrapping paper and drove home with excitement. I got my tools together and got to work. A few hours later, my first dress was done.
I had so much fun and wanted to make more. With only one mannequin though, I waited awhile because I didn’t want to take it down already.I was actually proud of the outcome.
I was taking an art class my last semester of high school and my art teacher mentioned that there was going to be a fashion show. A “Trash’n Show” to be exact. I was so excited. I had another chance to make another dress–this time out of recyclables.
I’m a total magazine hoarder and thought it would be fun to make a dress out of magazine pages and newspapers. I also had a vase full of buttons that would add a kick to the dress. I wanted to make two dresses so I made a dress made out of newspapers and I tweaked the first dress. The dresses were done and my two good friends agreed to be my models. It was going to be perfect.
The show went perfect and I got so many compliments on the dresses I made.
Here are some other dresses I have made throughout the years. I love that they are all different from each other.
My JuicyCouture Dress: After going into the Juicy store (and buying something), I decided to put the adorable pink shopping bags to use. This dress is made up from the shopping bags and tissue paper.
My Anthropologie Dress: It may not be from the magazine itself, but I was inspired by it. After a trip to the store (and a few purchases of course), I took the paper bags I was given and turned it into a dress. The bottom of the dress is from the bags as well as the lettering. The brown bows are from the bag as well. The top half is from the tissue paper, as well as the pink bows with sequins on them. Though you can’t see it, the back has strings from the bag.
My Prada Dress: This dress was inspired from Prada. I love Prada because their clothes are so dainty and girly. This dress is much more simple than the other dresses I made. Again from Anthropologie wrapping paper, I wanted to go with a lace look. The navy blue lining in a velour yarn that I got at Anthropologie along with the festive balls.Around Christmas time (again) I stocked up on more wrapping paper since I knew I was going to make more dresses. I bought lots of different kinds to play around with them as I go. This dress is made from Anthropologie wrapping paper, yarn from Anthropologie and the sleeves are made from cut-up stockings. This dress took me a little longer because I had to individually cut the ruffles and hot glue them. The flowers are from fabric that I cut off of an old shirt.
My Free People Dress: This outfit is different because I paired it with a blouse that I already owned. I altered the blouse a little and made a built-in bandeau to make it look better. I used leftover Anthropologie wrapping paper to make a maxi skirt and used lining from the blouse that I cut off for the satin lining. The ruffles on the skirt are also from wrapping paper that I cut individually to make ruffles.
My BCBG DressThis dress is probably the most girly out of them all. The top is an actual blouse that I own, however I cut it up to make it flow with the maxi skirt. The bottom half is wrapping paper from ANthropologie. The lining that goes down the skirt is part of the blouse and I super glued it. The riffles are wrapping paper as well.
Out of all the dresses, this is my latest dress and most complex. I made it over Christmas break and I told myself I wasn’t going to use wrapping paper this time. I had quite a few articles of clothing in my closet that were “broken.” In other words they either had holes, tears, wore out or were old and I didn’t want to get rid of them.
The bottom half of the dress is from an old Abercrombie & Fitch sundress (I know, right?). I cut the top half and made the bottom half a skirt. The blouse part is from BCBG. It had more layers and I cut it apart. The other layer of the blouse turned into the sleeves. I laced some gold yarn that I had through the holes of the blouse to make it “pop.”
The buttons on the blouse are from an old Forever21 necklace (it’s actually on the mannequin as an accessory from the above dress).
The turquoise belt is from an old BCBG romper that ripped.
One of my favorite parts of the dress is the collar. I love collars and I think they look so girly and classy. I got the lace collar from an old Marshall’s blouse and used some yellow ribbon to turn it into a necklace. I reverted back to my button jar to mix and match the different buttons.
I’m sorry for starting out this post with a cliché but it was inevitable.
Summer consists of cute flats and flip flops.
As you can guess, this post is going to be about shoes. Summer shoes to be exact.
I recently just purchased these beloved black flats at ALDOS with Bumble Bees on them.
I would be lying if I said I didn’t buy them because of Beyoncé. Everyone wants to be the Queen B, right?
After finding them in the store and sadly not carrying my size (that’s what I get for having small feet), I was determined to find them online. Forty-six dollars later and they were on their way to my apartment.
So in honor of Beyoncé, here are ten summer shoes that will bring out some Beyoncperation (OK that’s a stretch and I totally just made that up.)
It’s time to put away the Ugg boots, baggy sweaters and beanie hats.
Bring out the bathing suits, crop tops, sun dresses and shorts. With school out and a lot of time on your hands (maybe a summer job?), you can do some fun crafts.
If you have some old shorts laying around that you don’t want to get rid of, this is the perfect post for you!
There are a lot of fun ways to spice up an old pair of shorts. Here are some cheap and fun ways to change up your closet for the summer.
1. Watermelon Shorts:
Ever since Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love” came out, Watermelons seem to be bursting with popularity. If you have white shorts that you don’t mind experimenting with, these may become your new favorites. You only need a few items to make this and it’s easy to do.
What you’ll need:
1. White shorts
2. Pink and Green Tie Dye
3. Black crystals/gems for the seeds
What you’ll do:
1. Pick a side that you want the watermelon on and but a scrunchie/rubber band in the upper corner where you will put the green die. Dip the pink die at the tip of the short and leave it.
2. Cover the shorts with plastic wrapping and leaving for 6-8 hours to soak in.
3. Take off the scrunchie/rubber band and rinse the shorts in the sink. Be careful to not blend the white part in between with the green or the pink.
4. Once rinsed, throw in drier to air dry. Enjoy!
2. Lace Shorts Every girl loves some lace. You can do this with any type of shorts–especially dress up some jean shorts. You could find a lot of jean shorts with lace at stores like American Eagle, H & M, Forever21 and even Target, but if you have an old pair of jeans why not save the money? Plus, you’ll be able to get your creative juices flowing.
What you’ll need:
1. Jeans (any color)
What you’ll do:
1. On each side of the shorts, cut a triangle (as big as you want).
2. Where the triangle cutout is, place the lace piece on top of it.
3. Polka Dot Shorts Out of all the jean crafts, this one requires very little effort. This idea is great for dark-colored shorts that you want to add some texture too. It can also work well with lighter-colored shorts with dark polka-dots.
What you’ll need:
1. Dark/Light shorts
2. A pencil
3. (Craft) paint
What you’ll do:
1. Take the tip of the pencil (eraser side) and dip it into the paint.
2. Place the polka dots to your liking on the shorts.
3. Let the paint dry for a few hours until you do the back side (if you want).
4. Fourth of July Shorts
With Fourth of July right around the corner, this is a fun way to get festive. This is a craft that you can show your American pride any time you want.
Find a pair of shorts lingering around your closet to get them into red, white and blue mode.
What you’ll need:
1. Jean Shorts
2. Red and white craft paint
3. Star-shaped studs
What you’ll do:
1. Take the right side of the shorts and tape them up in stripes.
2. Start with the white paint and fill in the jean area wit white paint. When it dries, use the red paint to cover the remaining stripes.
3. For the left side of the jean shorts, use the star-shaped studs and sew them into the jeans.
